#STMME:                Know before you go

While technology has played a crucial part in keeping us connected across this challenging period, there really is nothing that compares to the experience (or value) of an interaction shared in-person with our peers, friends and colleagues, explains Chris Morley, Event Director.

Read time: 5 minutes

As I write this, my diary tells me that we’re less than two weeks away from physically opening the doors to this year’s Seatrade Maritime Middle East (#STMME) – which, after a prolonged absence, we will be doing for the first time since 2018.

I know I speak for the entire team when I say that we are so excited to be able to welcome you and your community back – not only to #STMME, but to an in-person event too. While technology has played a crucial part in keeping us connected across this challenging period, there really is nothing that compares to the experience (or value) of an interaction shared in-person with our peers, friends and colleagues.

There is so much to look forward to at this year’s #STMME, and we really hope you have a great event. To help you get the most out of your experience though, there are a few things that I wanted to share with you first, including COVID-19 requirements and travel help. I’d suggest taking five minutes to have a quick read through – and of course, if you have any follow-up questions, get in touch with us.

1. Register in advance

Your overall experience, health and safety are at the forefront of our preparations for this year’s event. We understand that many of you would normally opt to register on the day, but by registering in advance you are helping to contribute to a better, safer experience for yourself and your peers.

You can register for your #STMME event pass here, which includes access across the entire three days.

2. Badge-less entry

Gone are the days of a badge and lanyard!

Instead of picking up your badge onsite, your event badge will be emailed to you ahead of the event so do keep an eye out for it.

You will need to show this upon arrival, so please do have it ready (we’d suggest you screenshot the badge on your smartphone for convenience).

You can bring a printed copy with you, but we would encourage you to think sustainably. There will also be team members at the event entrance, who will be able to assist if you have any problems.

3. Entry Requirements

While in-person events continue to return safely to Dubai, we continue to take your health and safety extremely seriously. Your COVID-19 vaccination status will determine any actions you need to take ahead of arrival, so please do read the following carefully.

If you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to provide a negative PCR test but will need to show proof of vaccination. To do this:

  • Download the ICA app to register your vaccine certificate
  • Once you have done this, please download the Al Hosn app, which is where your certificate will appear

If you are not vaccinated, you must provide evidence of a negative PCR test within the last 72 hours.

All attendees, whether you are vaccinated or unvaccinated, will also need to bring with them a face covering and be mindful of social distancing. The venue itself will benefit from enhanced cleaning and you will find hand sanitisers at regular intervals throughout, and the entire event will take place in accordance with our industry-leading Informa AllSecure guidelines

4. Getting to Expo 2020

New year, new venue!

This year’s event takes place at the brand-new Dubai Exhibition Centre, which stands proudly alongside the Expo 2020 site.

#STMME will be located in hall 1 (ABC), which is in the South Complex of Dubai Exhibition Centre. There is a metro station that is serviced by the Red Line on Route 2020. You can plan your trip in advance or on the S’hail app.

Attendees can also take advantage of discounted rates when travelling with Careem, who is our official travel partner. Your discount codes will be emailed to you ahead of the event.

There is also ample parking – simply look out for the Dubai Exhibition Centre parking zone. Parking is free and a complimentary shuttle service will ensure you get to the venue comfortably, but we would encourage you to think sustainably about how you arrive at #STMME.

We’re really delighted to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. And, while you don’t need an Expo 2020 ticket to attend #STMME, the show is just 300 metres away from the heart of the action.

5. Online event platform

Finally, #STMME will this year be supported by a digital event portal.

Whether you’re still at the comfort of your own desk, walking the show floor or taking a break in one of our lounges, you’ll be able to use the digital portal to watch live conference streams, connect with other attendees and find out more about our sponsors, partners and exhibitors.

You can also use the portal post-event to catch up on conference sessions, too. Keep an eye out for your log-in details, which should be emailed to you shortly.

We look forward to seeing you at #STMME later this year. Take care, stay safe and if you have any questions, please do get in touch.
